MANOA COMMUNITY GARDEN RULES REVISION PROPOSAL 2021

VOTING BEGINS OCTOBER 24TH (DON’T VOTE YET. PROPOSAL MUST BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS FIRST)
DISCUSSION IS ENCOURAGED, IN WRITTEN FORM.

Proposal 1. 'Raise the annual membership fee from $5 to $10 a year, to better cover the cost of sand, disappearing and broken tools, drinks at the clean ups, and other materials, such as tarps, etc..' (This would make annual dues $30, instead of $25)

Yes or No

Proposal 2Per the City and County of HonoluluHonolulu Botanical Gardens we are not allowed to remove or disturb the bricks in the paths. They state that Manoa CG is the only one with bricks, and as such is a 'Showcase Garden'. Removing the bricks leads to them becoming unsafe and unattractive as they settle. Though this rule was also passed years ago by Manoa Members, it was not published, as being thought to be too obvious. However, we must publish it
to enforce it. Publish this rule?
Yes or No

Proposal 3. Per the City and County of Honolulu, Honolulu Botanical Gardens, we are not allowed to put caulking or cement between the bricks to prevent weeds, because this affects drainage and flooding. RePublish this rule?

Yes or No

Proposal 4. Use of salt in MCG: Years ago the garden voted to prohibit use of salt in the gardens, because heavy rain or flooding leads to the leaching of salt into the plots. Salt kills everything. Soil with salt in it must be replaced if you wish to grow anything, and no matter how long we have our plot, we must think of future gardeners. The argument FOR using salt is that it works to kill weeds in between the bricks.

Do you wish to ban the use of salt in MCG?

Yes or No
