COMPOST CHANGES: WHERE TO PUT THINGS AND TAKE TRASH HOME

This message from the Compost Team:

Hi Gardeners!! We are in the process of redesigning our compost system. We will build new bins, so at the moment we need to stop filling the bins in preparation for building new bins.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT GREEN WASTE DIRECTLY INTO THE COMPOST BINS UNTIL WE BUILD THE NEW ONES.  Please do not put any California grass in the green waste pile because we are trying to keep it from spreading in the garden. There is a separate pile for sticks and woody shrub prunings.

WHERE TO PUT GREEN WASTE FOR NOW: Until further notice, please cut green waste (no sticks!) into pieces of no more than 6 inches long and put it on top of the big tarp BEHIND the tool shed.

PLEASE, NO PLASTIC, NO ROCKS or PAPER IN THE COMPOST - TAKE ALL TRASH HOME from now on, please.

TRASH DUMPING IS NOT ALLOWED behind the compost pile or anywhere behind the garden. TAKE ALL TRASH HOME.

LEAVE THESE IN YOUR PLOT UNTIL WE HAVE A DUMP RUN:
Plastic, paper products, lumber, metal, and fencing wire are not allowed. Please either cart this out of the garden, or leave it in your plot UNTIL a dump run can be coordinated. Piles of trash are not only ugly, but are unsafe for the community.

3 PILES OUT BACK:
>California grass
>Cut up green waste
>Dry sticks

WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP and cooperation to improve the composting system and to help clean up our garden.
